Hello again everyone,
I have horrible news that just happened. Evidently someone has complained about the files that I have been sharing via Rapidshare. This has caused my premium account to become frauded, and in the process all of the files that were associated with the account have also become frauded. The only way that I know around this is to find another host and start the uploading process all over again. I cannot apologize enough about this, and wish there was something that could be done, but to my knowledge, there isn’t. If anyone has some suggestions or ideas, please let me know. I’m at my wits end.
Not quite sure what you mean by your account becoming “frauded” but if someone else got your log in credentials its just a matter of contacting Rapidshare and setting a new password and then locking the account down. That doesn’t do much for all the posts you already did though.
My opinion has always been that its a dangerous thing to make a forum like this open to everyone. Unfortunately there are people who are just downright malicious…it can’t be avoided except by being judicious as to who you let in…and even then you’re not 100% safe.
Hope you don’t give up on Rapidshare…
Sorry to hear about the RS trouble. Since the legal action against RS, they go after Music uploaders more than after any other stuff. I think that if one uploads anything to these services, that it is important to use obscure names and or numbers in stead of the real names. This makes it dificult for the RS hounds scanning for things to find things considered illegal. Basically just ID the file in the post and just link to the obscure RAR file name/number combo.
I hope that your new site will as nice as this one.
Keep us posted.
Good luck
Try reporting to rapidshare your account was hacked. i was in the same situation and solved. I don’t upload files so i don’t know if that fixes the problem with uploads.
Aww. =) Thanks so much for this site, I love the music!
Sorry, I don’t have any suggestions, mediafire?
Rapidshare utterly sucks. I stoped using it a long time ago. Mediafire is a good alt. Depositfiles seems pretty good to. But you takes your chances with any of these sites.
A good alternative to rapidshare is mediafire: no waiting time, parallel downloads, good download speed.
Thanks
JR
Hi,
Can choose other country?
Rapidshare any more has no sense, the way to block there is found
http://flyfile.us/
http://www.mediafire.com/
As the press says: no comment! I cannot understand how some people can be so evil! It is not fault that they are the way they are…I am so sorry. I wish I could understand why bad things happen to good people…
Oh Bright! These are terrible news =(
It seems that you are under pressure & stress test these days pal!
I wish we could something… Relax
Tell me if I can be of any help, I’ve got some of the albums, may be I can help in reuploading? but I lowered the sample quality to 128kb which still supreme quality…
Wow, this is a real setback. I wonder who complained– one of the artists? It’s not like your making money or anything. Well, good luck, and we’ll be looking for you!
Hmm, you’re not the first. Rapidshare has been cracking down on bloggers across the net and I’m sorry to hear you are one of them. See this blog:
http://ibis56.blogspot.com/
for a story from Germany about Rapidshare. Someone had their house raided.
I’m very sorry about this, but as far as I can tell, Rapidshare just isn’t safe anymore. Perhaps with the new hosting will come a new uploading service? Let us know what you decide on, and I’m so sorry again!
This is a very very bad news.
Re-upload all files again is an heavy work to do. :-(
Terribly sorry to hear that, mate… You’re such a kind guy… wish you all the best!!!
Media Fire is the best service and it’s free… There are no limits to download, we can download files without waiting some minutes…
Advice: Don´t put the real names of artists & records in the name of the files uploaded: The searching engines locate them inmediately.
Use something like this ( example): Jon Mark – Alhambra = JM-A001
… Your links remain ok for a loooonger time.
Sorry for my poor english.
Greetings,
Such stuff should NOT be posted in public. That’s why usually you have to be registered member to be able to view content of w@rez sites.
Another mistake – NEVER give real names to the files you upload to free services like RapidShare. It’s easy to find such files, report them to RS, and they are all gone in seconds. Instead of ‘Sting – All This Time.zip’ call it ‘S_ATT.zip’ or something like that…
We’re rooting for you!
– Chas

@Orgcha
Well, as you can see from the messages that are there when you try to download a file, my RS account has been frozen totally. Can’t get anyone from RS to even tell me which files where complained about. I have not given up on RS, but it’s looking like I will have to find another hosting company to use.
@Able
I’ve toyed with the idea of renaming the files the way you mentioned, but the fact of the matter is just simply that it won’t stop what has happened totally. I really think the only other realistic option available to me now is to use an alternative file hosting service. Just don’t know which one, lol. Was hoping to find one that was hosted in the Netherlands, as that would really help with the copyright issues or whatever.
@Licanu
Thank you very much for the suggestion. I tried it, and have not heard back from them at all. =-(
@Chid
Thank you very much for the encouragement. I’m not totally sold on Mediafire as they are based in the US, and that could really cause some issues legally.
@Leafdharma
Thank you very much for your input. I do have to say that Depositfiles is on my shortlist. I like the fact that it’s got some of the same features as rapidshare, just better =-).
@JR
Thank you very much for the input. As I mentioned earlier, I’m not entirely sold on MediaFire. One of the major concerns I have is the fact that they are hosted and run in the US.
@Al
Thank you very much for the alternatives! I had not heard of Flyfile, so will check it out. As I’ve mentioned earlier, Mediafire is not really an option now, as I have learned that they are hosted in the US.
@Kittyblack
Thank you so much for your support. This has been extremely tough for me to deal with. I’m not going to give up, but couple this along with the fire in my main computer and it’s been a rough week.
@MusicMad
Thank you very much bud. Right now, relaxing is almost impossible. I’m trying to find a way to connect the drive that I used to store my MP3’s to this computer without opening it up. In terms of reuploading, that will take time, that’s a given, but to be honest, I would prefer to offer the best possible bitrate for everyone. I personally prefer the better bitrates, but as always, there is a trade-off. My upload speed is very good – 1.5 mb upload speed, but that will probably be limited by the service itself. I know with RS that the max I could get uploading was around 40 kbps.
@Lady Jane
Thank you very much for your support. I have not been able to get a straight answer from RS in regards to anything with my account. It’s almost like they are ignoring me =-(. The good news is that The new portal is almost ready for posting, so will begin again there.
@Chas
Thank you so much. Been a rough week =-(
@Sting
You’re probably right in the regard of the public access. I never once intended to cause harm or trouble for anyone, and so just never really thought about that side of things. The new portal has a membership capability, which I fully plan on using. In regards to the names themselves, I doubt that is what actually caused the problem. But who knows. In the future, the names will be truncated or obscured to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.
@Anonymous
Thank you very much for the advise. The new file hosting that I plan on using will be done exactly as you mention, hopefully that will help =-).
@Leonardo
Mediafire is one of the better ones, that’s for sure. The problem is that they are hosted in the US and that can cause some serious issues.
@Musicolic
Thank you so much! We’ll get the portal up and running, and hopefully everyone will like it as much as this blog =-).
@Happymp3
Reuploading is not really the part that is bothering me. That part is the fact that the music is no longer available for enjoyment. After all, that was the reason I started this blog in the first place.
@Dio
Thank you very much for the comforting words. I’m taking a look at the other file hosting services available and once I choose, will start the reuploading process once again. Thank you once more for all the support you’ve given. =-)
QuietMusic, I am not really sure if it will help, but would encrypting your files offer greater protection?
anyway. it’s awful that you have so many troubles, one after another =(
good luck!
I wish you can get over this soon :( We need music to live! Aww, damn Rapishare
Hello Bright, sorry to hear that, if you need any help, just contact me. I use latelly Mediafire, is a good place to store your things.

@Chid
Thank you so much! I find myself just shaking my head at how amazing everyone has been during this whole ordeal. Are you aware of what those few words are capable of? I thank you from the bottom of my heart. After the computer went down, I very nearly gave up on this whole project. The workload seemed almost too much. But thanks to you and the others that have voiced their encouragement and support QuietMusic will live again. In the new portal, link protection will be used in some form. I’m exploring the possibility of it being done within the script that will control the portal itself. If so, it would certainly make implementing it much easier. Thank you once again for everything and please don’t lose hope =-).
@Phuong
Thank you very much my friend. Hopefully if everything goes well, the new portal will be live next week, and the music will once again be readily available =-).
@Frogmen
Thank you so much my friend. Right now things are pretty much stationary until I get my main computer back up and running. If you don’t mind, I’ll toss you a message on Frogmen after I get done replying to the comments =-).
Dear Friend
the only way to keep files in the rapidshare is not publish the full name of the file, use abbrevations for file names, that way there will be no trace back of what the file is. i have gottem away with all my stuff like that. eventually where u put it they r gonna remove it, so try this trick.
Thanks
@Dukeslaw
Thank you very much for the suggestion. There are 2 major hurdles to overcome in regards to RS. The first is that I’m a bit leary of putting anything on there because of what happened to my previous account. I do understand that it’s the most widely used and therefore most of the users will have premium accounts. The other hurdle is that if something were to happen to the account, we would all be in the same position as before, because there are no backups. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a post somewhere with RS links that were dead, but the other file hosters were still active. That is really the main reason why I chose to switch to MU. If I could find a reliable site that would allow me to upload to multiple file hosting companies at once, that would be ideal. The major problem with that is everyone I’ve found or used up to this point goes under in a fairly short period of time and then we are back to square one. Anyway, all in all, I will definitely think about posting RS links, just can’t promise anything.
