Ryan Farish – Selected Works

MP3 @ 320 Kbps | 53:54 min | 2002 | 124 MB | 10% Recovery Record

Ryan’s distinctive piano leads most tracks here supported by flutes, world voices, children’s voices, guitars and a variety of appealing synthesiser layers. Blissful, dreamy melodies range from comforting, tender, soporific to euphoric, inspiring and upbeat – often reduced to the simplest, most sparing series of notes, pieces are uncluttered and graceful. There are tracks with beautiful chord progressions or tripping arpeggios, there are also pieces without a piano, carried instead by subtle synthetic voices. Drums are programmed into light, uplifting beats – most comfortably occupy the down to midtempo range, occasionally ascending up into the realm of a low-key dance beat. The mood is overridingly one of light and beauty – Ryan Farish creates some strikingly attractive themes that are inviting and easy on the ear. Moods established are largely peaceful, restful and optimistic. There are some compositions among the collection that are lush twilight atmospheres, lustrous, deep and dramatic where the introductions and interludes are allowed to explore the crepuscular, more moody side of Ryan’s musical personality. If you are familiar with Ryan’s albums from Neurodisc – the quality of these tracks will maintain the high standard that you’ve come to expect. If you know Ryan from back in mp3.com days – here’s a chance to get hold of some of those tracks that made him one of the site’s success stories.

MP3 @ 192 Kbps | 48:03 min | 70 MB | 10% Recovery Record

Ryan is breaking new territory with Everlasting by expanding the depth of his music; incorporating live guitar, percussion, strings and bass with his signature piano melodies. The first thing you’ll notice is the warm live bass permeating on album starter “Together We Will Conquer” as it segues into syncopated percussion rhythms. Moby, Robert Miles and BT come to mind with a couple of his other songs that deliver upbeat break-beats, lush synth washes, deep rolling bass and Ryan’s beautiful melodies. Each song breathes from dense instrumentation to expansive openness; drifting from intense moments to lullaby peacefulness. “Young at Heart” builds from the brisk-paced percussion into ebbing strings that balance the song into a vibrant, upbeat number. Show stopper “Watch the Sky” ups the ante with a soft guitar lead accompanying his piano – showcasing Ryan’s multi-instrumental skills. Album closer “Everlasting Light” brings Ryan back to his roots with a very simple piano outro –! demonstrating Ryan’s growth and his ability to deliver a stunning album that is easily digestible. It’s that good!

Ryan Farish – From The Sky

coverRyan Farish – From The Sky
MP3 @ 192 Kbps | 56:40 min | 84 MB | 10% Recovery Record

Absorbing influences from his daily life, Ryan delivers on this album with his distinct ‘upbeat’ mantra of warm and elegant music for the soul. In typical Farish fashion, Ryan delves into various themes of world-beat, new-age and spiritual sounds awash with his lush piano melodies and powerful minimalistic approach. From the opening “The Promise,” a simple piano line pairs with indigenous vocal chants; segueing into lush break-beat washed with beautiful synths. Bouncing beats and bubbling basslines invigorate “Joy;” solemn strings ebb dreamily into stunning female vocals on “Pacific Wind.” Joyful Caribbean style beats and call & response style children’s choirs weave a tapestry of perfectly blended chillout electronica with an organic style. From the Sky dives right in with a brilliance of light; further demonstrating Ryan’s brightest moments are yet to come. His music is introspective and reflective; giving you a glimpse into his mind; where the sky is always blue, the grass is always green and the melodies always bring a smile.

Ryan Farish – Beautiful

MP3 @ 192 Kbps | 1:00:02 min | 82.5 MB | 10% Recovery Record

I first heard his music when watching the local forcast on the Weather Channel back in early 2004 and although I wasn’t familiar with who it was at the tiem, I was shocked to hear the same melodies when I heard the songs on thsi CD. Being turned on by the beautiful album cover, I gave it a try and WOW! This is an absolutely gorgeous and elegant debut release. The CD is described as a mix of Yanni, Tangerine Dream, and Robert Miles. Overall, I describe this as closer to Robert Miles as opposed to the other two with the exception of “Letting Go” which has a very Yanni-esque feel but having a far more sophisticated and beauty that Yanni can only dream of. “Secret Garden” is arguably my favorite song on this release having a beautiful electronic beat and fast rhythm. I absolutely love this album and I highly recommend acquiring a copy of it as soon as possible!

Ryan Farish – Daydreamer

MP3 @ 192 Kbps | 1:09:03 min | 104 MB | 10% Recovery Record

The follow up to Ryan’s first album “In The Day”, the “Daydreamer” album is one of the best electronic albums ever. I’ve listened to Ryan for two years on mp3.com, and “Daydreamer” reads like an “all-star” list of his best tracks. The album leads off with “Nightwind” and “Secret Garden”, two chart-topping tracks that will draw you into a vortex of ambient sound and wonder. And “Holding Faith” is reminiscent of “Chariots of Fire” with its uplifting melody. But my favorite song of all is “Chasing the Sun”. I don’t know why… All I know is that I can’t get it out of my head. You’ll find yourself listening to this CD as you fall asleep, and it’s a definite mainstay in the car stereo. If you like Enigma or Pat Metheny, then you’ll love Ryan Farish! Five stars and highly recommended…
