through-open-doors

As many of you might already know, the new portal is finally open!!!!!  I am so sorry that it has taken so long to happen, but I do hope you find it worth the wait.  Some of the new features you will be able to enjoy are being able to message any member & being able to post your own favorites.  There will also be a forum added so that requests and such can be made there.  Eventually hope to in essence mirror this blog there and of course have new content available.  The new music available should be substantially more than here as there will be multiple people posting =-).  Please stop by and join your NEW home for QuietMusic – www.quietmelodies.com!

Robert Rich – Rainforest

robert-rich-rainforest-coverRobert Rich – Rainforest
MP3 @ 256 Kbps VBR | 53:10 min | 1989 | 97.3 MB | 10% Recovery Record

On his first widespread release, Rich contemplates the ravaged state of the world’s rain forests, and the music herein reflects both the beauty and mystery of those gradually disappearing environments. These aspects of beauty and mystery are represented by pulsating, rhythmic tracks and denser atmospheric works, respectively. The former is epitomized by opening piece “Mbira,” a playful dance of xylophone-like percussion and bamboo flute accompanied by a fretless bass gently gliding over them; while the latter is best showcased in the ghostly flute free fall which builds during the eerie, airy “Sanctuary.” The composer has such an uncanny ability to conjure vivid musical imagery that can transport listeners into his vision of a rain forest. One can practically feel the dampness of the vegetation, envision the evergreen locale, and connect with the pulse of life within its dense ecosystem. Rainforest was Rich’s first breakthrough album, and it remains his most commercially successful.

Robert Rich & Lisa Moskow – Yearning

9 03 2009

front1Robert Rich & Lisa Moskow – Yearning
MP3 @ 256 Kbps | 59:41 min | 1995 | 124 MB | 10% Recovery Record

Robert Rich and Lisa Moskow created Yearning as an ‘Evolution of the traditional approach to alop’, the introduction and slowest part of the Indian raga. It explores the intensity of meditative electroacoustic ambience. Indeed, it goes beyond electroacoustic to psychoactive. Rich, one of the finest sound designers ever, has crafted these atmospheres with strong overtone qualities. The organic textures wend their way into the synapses of the brain and surround the serotonin with warmth, love and nurturance. Deep listeners will feel the pull of the graceful melodies as Rich and Moskow weave a thoughtful and evocative soundworld. Like most of Rich’s work, this CD is relatively peerless. It stands with the music of Steve Roach and David Parsons as unique.
